Garvies Point Museum & Preserve

Garvies Point Museum is a natural history museum located on Long Island's north shore. Exhibits and collections emphasize prehistoric Native American culture of Long Island, the science of archaeology and the geology of Long Island and New York State.

The 62-acre nature preserve features high scenic bluffs exposing Cretaceous clay sediments, a rocky shoreline and beach, woodlands, thickets, ponds and meadows. There are five miles of trails, including a trail for the visually impaired.
Museum and preserve resources are used to present specialized one-hour museum school programs. Programs can be used to meet basic curriculum or enrichment needs, either when taken alone or in combination. These are geared to the ability level and special needs of your class.
Planning and pre-visit materials are provided. These have been designed to integrate programs into classroom activities. Customized programs and pre-visit consultations are available when requested and schedules permit.
Garvies Point is part of Save the Sound.
