It is anticipated that this year Save the Sound will involve about 25,000 children and adults in hands-on learning about the Sound and their impact on it. Naturalists conduct in-school and beach classes, as well as weekend, vacation day, and other programs. The Urban Youth Project, serves elementary school children and teachers from the inner cities about the Sound and its watershed. The publication Sound Connections: A Long Island Sound Curriculum Guide helps upper-elementary teachers incorporate Long island Sound activities into their curricula. Each summer we host over two hundred children at our Sea Camp. Our Long Island Sound Library and Information Center, which boasts an extensive collection of materials about Long Island Sound, environmental science, and marine life, is open to the public.
